What is Faith

I think faith is the most abused word in the Bible because few people take the time or effort to examine every scripture with the word faith in it.

This results in an untrue thinking that faith is only a thought and that one can get anything they want with it. Faith is powerless without righteousness!
Matthew 17:20 “…If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
When we use faith for our own gratification we allow the devil to pay us, not God. Luke 5:”5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
If the devil could pay Christ he is also able to pay us if we use faith for our own selfish gratification. Those who teach we can get anything we want with faith and without righteousness are teaching the devils philosophies. The devil happily pays such foolishness to confuse and deceive. Only when we ask for things that are right with God do we apply faith in the right way.

The illustration of the blind men and the elephant matches the popular definition of faith because like the blind men, they do not examine the whole Bible, taking only what they want to hear.

GOD'S WARNING means if we wrongly define FAITH we offend Him!!!

Revelations 22:18 “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:  19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” To not

Deuteronomy 4:2 “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.:

Below you will find a list of the 202 verses in the King James Bible that contain the word faith. I have divided the list into three groups;

  1. Faith without works with 6 verses.
  2. Faith must include works and righteousness 92 verses.
  3. Faith actions or verbs, such as Peter walking on water etc. 110 verses.

I think because item 1 and 2 seem to be in conflict many choose to use only group 1. We must believe the entire word of God (thus the entire Bible) not a select few verses that lead to incomplete definitions. We must trust that God’s words do not lie or conflict with each other.

So how can the Bible seem to say faith does not need works, then also say faith must have works?
It is really simple; it is that no one can enter Heaven without the Saviors permission (grace) no matter how righteous they are, and that the Savior will not allow anyone who is evil to enter Heaven. His grace (permission) will be given only to those with good works that He chooses to invite into Heaven. No one can force their way into Heaven. For Heaven to be a wonderful place it will have only wonderful people who have obtained the Saviors approval to be there. The Savior is not going to allow anyone into Heaven who has not proven they will not return to evil works, nor is anyone who gets into Heaven going to want anyone evil to be there. Thus those who want to be in Heaven trust the Savior to insure Heaven to be a place without evil people.

This chart has taken a lot of work to compile and every effort for accuracy has been expended. If you see any errors please let me know so I can fix them.
